Balinese Big Doll Ogoh Ogoh parade 2011Every year according to the Balinese calendar (420 days), the Balinese Hindus celebrate the new year, New Year New Saka. This new year New Saka  is right on Silence "Nyepi" day

The day before Nyepi, Hindus people enthusiasm to hold a parade of Ogoh-Ogoh. Each banjar (the village territory) usually have one or more Ogo-ogoh. If the have more money, usualy they make two or more ogoh-ogoh with fascinating form.

Before carrying the ogoh-ogoh, the balinese people wear uniforms, prayer,sometimes not forget to give a little modern touch by painting their hair with bright color. Can be green or too red. No matter what the material of the paint or the color, it is more importance to make this event more fascinating and exiciting.


When the time is come to parade, they walked together carrying their ogoh ogoh to the main road in the village. This ogoh-ogoh usually contested. Every year this ogoh-ogoh focused on the Puputan field in the center of Denpasar. Across the street were the museum bali with traditional artifac located.

After this ceremony was over, they dispose the ogoh ogoh at the disposal place such as in the sea or the river.  That action called Dipralina , mean returned to the origin world. Yes, on the Balinese people they beliefs tat the ogoh ogoh wre they carried out was inhabited by demons or by Butha Kala. Because of that reason, the ogoh ogoh must be discard in the sea, so that they can't disturb human living. lets we make peace for the earth and may the spirit of demon go away from human living.
